Ways to view your slides

You can view your slides in different ways to help you organize and edit your presentation:

  • Navigator view is the default view and has thumbnail images of each slide, which you click to jump to specific slides or drag to reorganize your presentation.

  • Light table displays slide thumbnails as if on a light table, which lets you see more slides at once. This view is useful if you have many slides and want to reorganize your presentation. You can drag the slide thumbnails to change their order.

  • Outline view lets you add and edit text directly in the slide navigator. It’s useful for seeing the flow of text-rich presentations.

Navigator view

  1. Click View View button in the toolbar, then choose Navigator.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Reorder slides: Drag a slide up or down.

    • Group slides: Drag a slide right to indent them in relation to the slide above.

Light table view

  1. Click View View button in the toolbar, then choose Light Table.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Edit a slide or return to your previous view (navigator or outline): Double-click a slide.

    • Change the size of the thumbnails: Drag the slider in the bottom-right corner of the window.

    • Hide skipped slides: Select the “Hide skipped slides” checkbox.

    • Show skipped slides: Deselect the “Hide skipped slides” checkbox. Thumbnails for skipped slides are dimmed.

Outline view

Outline view, which displays the title and bulleted text of each slide in the slide navigator, is most useful for quickly entering content to create a presentation because you can type bulleted text directly into the slide navigator. You can edit your presentation in the slide navigator as well, dragging bullets from one slide to another, or dragging them to a higher or lower level on the same slide.

  1. Click View View button in the toolbar, then choose Outline.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Change the font size: Choose Keynote > Preferences (from the Keynote menu at the top of your screen), click General, click the Outline View Font pop-up menu, then choose a font size.

    • Print the outline view: Choose File > Print (from the Print menu at the top of your screen). In the Print dialog, select Outline.
