Show or hide the inspectors
The Keynote window has a sidebar on the right that shows inspectors for formatting objects, animating objects, and setting presentation and audio options. You can show or hide the sidebar as necessary.
-
Format inspector: Click on the right side of the toolbar. To hide the entire sidebar, click the button again.
This inspector shows formatting controls for whatever you select in the presentation. For example, if you select text, you see only the text controls, not controls for formatting a table or a shape. If nothing is selected, the sidebar is empty.
-
Animate inspector: Click on the right side of the toolbar. To hide the entire sidebar, click the button again.
This inspector shows controls for animating objects on a slide and setting transitions between slides.
-
Document inspector: Click on the right side of the toolbar. To hide the entire sidebar, click the button again.
This inspector shows formatting controls for elements that affect your entire presentation, such as the theme and the soundtrack.
The sidebar shows either the Format, Animate, or Document inspector. You can click their buttons in the toolbar to switch from one to the other. If you click the button for the inspector that’s visible, the whole sidebar closes. To reopen the sidebar, click the button again.
To show or hide the sidebar, you can also choose View > Inspector > Format or View > Inspector > Hide Inspector (from the View menu at the top of your screen).
